The girl who is being portrayed in the original movie called "The Excorcist" what is her name? How did she get possessed by demons? Was it because she played with the Ouija Board many times by herself? Is this woman still alive today? If you have any history please let me know. I just saw this movie a few days ago and it scared me so much but it left me with a lot of questions.

Linda Blair plays the character Regan Teresa MacNeil, the little girl possessed by the Devil.
The movie is based on the book written by William Peter Blatty. I understand that it is based on a true story.
When i saw the movie 33 yrs ago it scared me out of my wits.

The Exorcist is a horror novel written by William Peter Blatty first published in 1971. It is based on a supposedly genuine 1949 exorcism Blatty heard about while he was a student in the class of 1950 at Georgetown University, a Jesuit and Catholic school. The exorcism was partially performed in both Cottage City, Maryland [1] and Bel-Nor, Missouri. [2] Several area newspapers reported on a speech a minister gave to an amateur parapsychology society, in which he claimed to have exorcised a demon from a thirteen-year-old boy named Robbie, and that the ordeal lasted a little more than six weeks, ending on April 19, 1949.

Linda Blair did play the little girl who was possessed..Eileen Dietz also played the Demon and stood in for Linda on many scenes..The boy who was possessed lived in Mt Rainier, Maryland..and William Peter Blatty took the idea from this occurence..thus the Georgetown locale..

The woman's name is Linda Blair and she starred in several sequels to the film and she is still alive, but the interestingly the movie based on a true story and instead of a girl being possessed it was infact a young boy and he was possesed by playing with a Quija board. I have seen shows on tv where they interviewed the one of the actual exorcists who exorcised the boy.

Linda Blair is the name of the actress. The demon was floating around in the attic and just so happen to get inside of her. The movie scared the panties off of me when I was a teenager funny to see it still has that effect after all these years

The movie is indeed based on a book by William Blatty. The book does not claim to be based on a true story, however it is loosely based on what happened to a boy (not a girl). I believe it happened in Chicago, but I may be mistaken. This scenario is somewhat similar to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre being based on "true events". It is loosely based on real events, but they are dissimilar to the movie.
