Back in the 60's LBJ, a Democrat, backed civil rights legislation. Before this, the Democrats were the party of the south and Jim Crow. This of course pissed off that group, who eventually all joined the Republican Party due to the Southern Strategy. Since then the GOP hasn't done anything to deserve the African-American vote. So why would they vote that way?

You got it backwards. Dems voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Acts in much higher numbers than Republicans. It was Republicans who pushed for the Civil Rights Acts.

bush got about 30% of the Hispanic vote in 2000, the highest ever for a goper. Since then the gopers have been going backwards with Hispanic voters. The only latin/hispanic voters who vote in the majority for gopers are the right wing cubans in Florida.

Republicans are the party of smear and fear.
