If the Doctor thinks it is something to be concerned about he will/should get your husband an urgent referral to a specialist....this can take anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, however should the doctor think it may be something as simple, non life threatening as a cyst your husband may have to wait months for an appointment.
In my experience doctors are very good knowing the difference.
It is worth checking with the doctors Secretary that a referral has been made.

I found a lump on christmas day a couple of years ago and had to wait two days for the doctors surgery to open again. The GP arranged for an ultra sound at a hospital. My appointment was in the third week from the date I saw my GP. Good luck and try not to worry.

I assume that his doctor has referred your husband to another doctor who specialises in this, and if that's the case, I believe that the NHS aims for a target of 8 weeks. If you ring your husband's GP, I'm sure that the receptionist at the your surgery can give you a specific time period that he'll have to wait.

It shouldn't be very long, why should they be discriminated against just because they have a lump in their bollix.
Who is it that they wanted to see? Do you think the doctor can give them a note to see people quicker?

if your worried and it has got bigger or has become painful in anyway make your husband go back to the doctors, anything in this nature shouldnt be left and if your worried a doctor can advise you further, dont be fobbed off until you have a clear answer your happy with.
they always say it is probably nothing to worry about but its best to be safe thean sorry.

Hi were the lumps front or back, if at the back the doctor would not have worried, its at the front and bottom when there may be a problem.
Feel them, be objective, if they are at the back (and I suspect they are) no probs AND hubby will enjoy it!!!

I agree with Natalie B if you are worried don't mess about go to doctors and tell him you are worried. If you get no satisfaction seek a second opinion.

He shouldnt have waited that long... sugest going to A&E they will look at it and take you seriously unlike the sad excuse for your gp....
(i work in the nhs and KNOW that this is against his guidelines for response times)
