I think there's nothing wrong with being a cool zombie when you're 6. Halloween is supposed to be a scary holiday, after all. Last I checked, uppity neighborhoods still haven't come up with codes of conduct for Halloween costumes, so you should be OK. If your child is going to be in the Halloween parade at school, however, I would probably leave the brains and eyeball at home for that. Many school have a pretty strict dress code at Halloween, and he may get sent home if his costume is really disgusting. Have fun trick-or-treating, and I'm sorry this world has gotten so hoity-toity. I remember when my little brother was in 5th grade- he had this awesome costume with fake stab wounds that oozed blood when he squeezed a pump! It rocked, but he would have been sent home nowadays. Party poopers!!!!

Zombies are really cool and scary. I wouldn't care too much about what others think of your son's halloween costume. There are costumes that are actually disgusting that might offend people, but zombies shouldn't be a problem. If you're that worried about what others think, just go trick or treating in another neighborhood you feel comfortable in. Have a safe, happy halloween by the way!

If that's what he wants to be, then go for it!!! The more elaborate the costume, the better. Halloween is all about the kids being able to dress up and receive candy from strangers. Let him be a zombie and have as much fun as he can!!

I don't see the problem with it. Zombies are appropriate for a 6 year old, just don't put a lot of "blood" on it or make it look really gross. Eye ball hanging out might actually be funny! If you keep it humorous instead of disgusting it will be fine.

Halloween is one of those holidays where someone will always be offended no matter what. If you son wants to look like a zombie go all out, if he can handle it.
My 5 year old son went as a vampire to a party Saturday nite and I went as his victim. I used the scar putty and fake blood to put pretty good looking bite marks on my neck. It kind of freaked him out because it looked pretty gross. So, I changed it and just put fake blood on my neck. If you and your son can handle the gruesomeness then do it!

Well, my neighbor's 6 year old daughter REALLY wanted to be a vampire, so they got her all the stuff, and when they put the make-up on her she looked in the mirror and was terrified of herself. I think it might be a bit much... try putting foundation on his face and then pat on baby powder and blue eye shadow all over the face for a white look and put some brown and purple eye shadow under his eyes with a little red lipstick on the corner of his mouth.

Who cares what other people think - let the poor boy go as a mummy. He's sure to get lots of compliments and the best candy there is! =)
Good luck and have fun. Happy Halloween!

Do it. I would love to see that and I am gald to know that you would take the extra time on your child. Let's not worry about the "uppities." Either they celebrate Halloween or they don't. They have no right to judge what is too much or not.

I think most ppl(even upity ones) would attribute his costume to the holiday, I know alot of ppl appreciate the effort one puts into a costume in comparison to those who just put enough on to go out :)

I think it could be cool. Uppity or not it doesn't offend anyone. If it's appropriate enough for a kid to not be freaked out, adults won't care.
