Is there some way to clean it, or do I need to send it in for repairs, or just get a new one. What about the games, my kids have lots of games I don't really want to have to replace them.

I had similar problems with my first PS2. Try a lens cleaner first because it is the cheapest, but odds are this is a problem with the laser / laser alignment.

if the lens cleaner doesn't work, contact Sony to find out how much it will cost to ship it back to them to repair. It might be cheaper and/or easier just to replace it.

good luck.
