I'm not sure I understand your question. But it is never O.K. to hit anyone.

Hitting a student is not right. You must report this and you can ask that this teacher be observed by the school counselor or school psychologist so that they can see what is going on. If the teacher can be retrained and continue to avoid this behavior and find other positive means to manage the classroom to limit the need for correction and consistently apply appropriate measures as needed, she should stay - if not then it's time for a different job. I'm glad you were there to speak up for that child! I have a brother who has serious special needs ad relies on help all the time. I pray for those people a lot, they have to use incredible patience and caring and put up with very difficult situations. You are doing great by volunteering, keep up the good work!

There are times when a teacher must intervene to stop a child immediately and teachers and aides should be taught safe methods. Sometimes teachers need to restrain a student who is acting out physically in a way that will hurt someone. There are specific holds and techniques that can be used to effectively restrain the student until calmer wihtout hurting the students or teacher.

This is against the law. The teacher should be charged. Filing a complaint with the school will not get any results. The school will cover up for its buddy.

Call the police and have the teacher charged with assault and battery. If the police won't do it, talk to the District Attorney. If the District Attorney won't do it, file a complaint with the Grand Jury.

As you do each one of these things, send a letter to all of the local papers that you can find.

If you can communicate in Yahoo Answers, you have the capability of doing these things.

No teacher or aide has the right to hit a child, especially a special needs student. Report it, keep reporting it and if the school administration does not end it NOW, go to the news papers.

It doesn't matter what types of disabilities you have, you saw something that was wrong and you reported it. Good for you! More people need to speak up when they see someone being mistreated or someone misbehaving.

I would have reported the action, just like you did. Years ago, my son (now age 25) was in special ed classes. When I went for one of the parent/teacher meetings, she told me something that she had done in regards to my son. I was speechless. I should have spoken up and reported her then and there.

Keep up your good work!

If a teacher ever struck my child, she would not be walking out of that school on her own two feet!!I don't care what the circumstances were.I would just hope we wouldn't be sharing the same jail cell.Yes i know it's wrong to hit and two wrongs never make a right but she is a monster!!

This is kind of behavior is clearly a violation of IDEA-Reauthorization of 2004. If reporting it to the principal did not result in some kind of correctional action, contact your state department of special education.

gosh, how horrible! I would gotten my kid out of there and report the teacher. If they don't do anything about it, you might have to report to the state. Imagine the humiliation this poor kid went through. Good job for reporting her!

Poor kid. Give him special attention and a hug. That horrid teacher doesn't deserve to be working there.
