Don't rinse with vinegar! If there is any bleach residue left it could be dangerous. When bleach and vinegar mix they produce a deadly gas. Several people each year die from this combination.
Now, what you can do - If you don't smell the bleach you should be safe, however baking soda will neutralize the bleach. Put a tablespoon of baking soda in the cup fill with warm water and let it sit for a few minutes then rinse with cold water and you have a clean mug that is perfectly safe to use. (Use warm water becaue it will help dissolve the baking soda, rinse with cold because cold water helps wash out any residue). Lots of people use bleach in the kitchen, it really is okay, as long as you don't smell the chlorine it is perfectly safe. But I like to go the extra mile and neutralize. When you neutralize you stop the bleaching action and the baking soda also neutralizes (or stops) the odor. If you want a clean mug with out the bleach hassle just sprinkle the baking soda and clean with your dish cloth, it works like cleanser or sprinkle and add water let set overnight and it will dissolve the stains.

Ajax. You are speaking of the powder that is in a can?
Ajax contains grit and various other chemicals that will abrase the mug. The Ajax dust is not safe to breathe.
Over time the Ajax will erode your mug and allow the perfect place for bacteria to hide.
You say it is an expensive cup, so I take that to mean it is not made of plastic?
Because Ajax can burrow in plastic. A bottle brush would need to be used to scrub the inside to remove hidden Ajax powder.

It/you should be OK just as long as you rinsed it good. You might fill it with vinegar, empty it, let cold water fill a couple of times and then do the same with hot water.
If you have NO chemical odor when you smell it you know it is clean and safe.

I would wash it in the dishwasher a couple times and then smell it. If it smells fine and not like Ajax then you should be okay to reuse it.

As long as it was washed really well. My husband uses a cup that was stained with coffee {gag} and I could no longer stand the look of it so I washed it in Clorox bleach and dish soap. He is perfectly fine.

I worked in a restaurant for many years, and we used to soak the coffee cups weekly in bleach to get out any stains, and then we ran them through dish washer. I now do the same thing at home. So you are totally safe, and you can enjoy your spotless cup!

If there are no cracks or chips in the mug, there is nowhere that this stuff could be absorbed. Besides, Ajax just isn't that dangerous anyhow. Drink up.

If we can safely assume your mug does not soak in moisture then you are fine. If you cant smell any bleach then its all gone.
One thing for sure.....Its CLEAN!
