i wasnt aware of any check valve but do you mean the quick disconnect in the right rear of the intake manifold ???

the heater hose control valve have hose clamps that require a plier.once you loosen the hose clamps, push it away from the valve. next, twist the heater hose and pull it out. pull off the vacuum hose. apply a little lubrication on the hoses for easy installation.mix the engine coolant half water and half coolant. remove radiator cap,fill coolant into the radiator slowly to get all the air out.next,fill the coolant bottle full.once full,close radiator cap and start engine. turn a/c on with hot temperature position. let it run until the engine temparature is half way. turn engine off and let it cool down(about 1 hour ). once cool,open radiator cap and make sure the coolant level is full.test drive your vehicle for about 5 miles to confirm the engine temperature does not get hot or pass 3/4 of the gauge.
