Never open or answer them, just delete them!
Sadly they now know your e-mail address is open and active, and will have sold your name on to other spammers. Some of these mails are tests to see if your account is open.
Might be an idea to get a new e-mail address now and delete the old one.

Keep cool pal. I am in Brazil and received exactly the same
as you. I do download sometimes to find the origin, since I have
a iMac Tiger and the virus was not for my computer. Still, it is no
use. Often can start from a cybercafé or Lan House, then goes to
Canada, then Italy, Africa back to London (to give some credibility)
who asks for your details through a lawyer in Italy. I have reported
all the sites and senders and it is no use, so I now delete without
opening. I get at least three a day, with an occasional holiday.
Then I have to erase cookies, caches, and erase all free space
so that I don‘t pass on the virus to my friends. I clean the HD
every day and it takes about 55 mins for two passes.

I get them all the time, i used to get them more often though, it is called phishing, they ask for your credit card details(apparently so they can give you a lot of money) but they really take all or a lot of your money. Phishing is also done by fake bank emails saying they are updating there security and you need to log onto the website from a link in the email.

Yes, this is the latest type of 419 fraud scheme.

If you ever see something that appears too good to be true, you can rest assured IT IS.

Do NOT open these emails. DO NOT CLICK UNSUBSCRIBE LINKS EITHER; you are dealing with unscrupulous people! Clicking the unsubscribe link will ONLY confirm that your email address is valid; this will result in MUCH MUCH more spam.

three times - and that's just over the past two weeks.
very annoying, but - as with most spam - there's not a lot you can do, except delete them.

if in doubt, think TANSTAAFL (there aint no such thing as a free lunch)
if you didnt pay into a lottery you have no chance of winning one

I think we've all had them from time to time. As to do they think we are stupid, consider this

There are around 1 billion computers on-line around the world (maybe more) - even if only 0.01 % of recipients these mails seriously, that's still an awful lot of stings. And the sad fact is that the percentage of gullible fools is much higher than that.

I don't think I know anyone with an email address who doesn't get them at least once in a while

Yup, I found one this morning in my Yahoo! inbox.

I never even open these. These are always scams to get your money, not give you money.

I just flag them as SPAM and move on.

yes. send back a sarcastic reply or threaten to involve the authorities. this is targeting the vulnerable. they usually ask for a lsum of money or your private details before they are able to release the money
