I have inherited my father's coin collection and haven't a clue where to start. Could someone please tell me what I need to do for a valuation? Thanks!

One of the best dealers I know of happens to live in Albany. His name is Frank Robinson, and he is a very ethical, nice person. Have him look at it, he will tell you what you have and make you a fair offer. You are of course free to sell them on Ebay yourself if you wish to instead. His email is:

frank@fsrcoin.com

You are very lucky to live in Albany. :-)

P.S. I have bought coins from this dealer for years, and he is one of the best. You can also do a search and find out for yourself that other coin collectors have nothing but good things to say about him.

Your best bet is a coin dealer. There are different coin dealers. U.S. coins should be taken to a U.S. coin dealer. They usually know little about ancient coins or world coins, these coins should go to their respective dealers. Same with paper money. Most dealers that have coin stores, are respectable. It also would not hurt to go to 2 dealers and see what they say. If it is a large collection they may charge a small fee, for it takes time to go through everything. If I knew what city you lived in, I might be able to get a dealers name for you from one of my coin papers, I get every week. Hope this helps.

You can just give them all to me and you wont have to worry with it anymore lol. Just go to a coin dealer or buy a coin book. Dont get greedy and sell the coins to make money. Pass it down through your generations.
