setting an example just creates more hatred. spreading democracy doesn't work in a world that doesn't believe in it based on our own pitiful example.

The so-called "War on Terror" is no such thing. The founders of PNAC (Project for a New American Century) currently fill the top seats in our government, and are currently enacting their white paper produced in September of 2000 entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century." It is an ideological match to Bush's "National Security Strategy of the United States of America" released on September 20th 2001. The plans Bush followed immediately after 9-11 had existed for a year proir to that tragedy. PUBLICLY.

Al Qaeda and the Taliban are both currently centered in Pakistan. We attacked, invaded, and occupied Iraq. No WMD's, no Saddam-Ossama connection, no connection to 9-11. According to PNAC, they need a permanent base in Iraq to stabilize the Middle East, and secure the oil.

They have used the fear of terrorism as an excuse to further empower the presidency beyond constitutional limits, limit the powers of Congress and the Judiciary, and severly reduce the civil rights and protections from unfair goverment of AMERICAN CITIZENS, making us all POTENTIAL "enemy combatants" who can be charged, incarcerated, tortured, outside of our judicial system, and without access to it.

There IS no war on terror. NONE.

One of our forefathers, James Madison:

"If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy."

"All men having power ought to be mistrusted."

"The executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question, whether there is or is not cause for declaring war."

"The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home."

"Do not separate text from historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government."

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."

"It is a universal truth that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or pretended, from abroad."

"Liberty may be endangered by the abuse of liberty, but also by the abuse of power."

"We are right to take alarm at the first experiment upon our liberties."

So, you believe it would be better to roll over and die. You believe that the US is a "pitiful example". That must be the reason so many through the years and into the present risk death to come and live here. Your gratitude to your ancestors and the founding fathers of this country is astounding. It is an old question, but why stay in a country that you pity? If there is somewhere that appeals to you more, wouldn't it be logical for you to remove yourself to that place. I think instead you are writing words that you didn't stop to take the measure of. The US is the greatest example of a free democratic republic to ever exist. No one believes that all things are perfect here, but I believe there is no better place to live in this world. The example we set may not have immediate effect, but it does have some. Many people believe in the example set by the US. Many corrupt governments believe in it so much that they fight with all their might to prevent their populations from enjoying the same freedoms. Remember you would not be stating what you did if you lived in the majority of nations in this world, either because of tyranny or lack of technology.

The complete perception of a 'struggle' on terrorism is ridiculous to begin with. The time period 'struggle on terrorism' is a propaganda word tossed round through our govt to instill worry and to additional the concept and feeling of there being an us and a them. By looking to combat an genuine struggle to triumph over terrorism and through looking to create worry in residents the federal government is most effective fitting an additional supply of worry and a hazard itself. Terrorism isn't going to finish any time quickly. The most effective approach that the sector will see a decline and finish to terrorism is that if the sector as a complete can deliver approximately peace among international locations, deal with men and women justly, make certain that there's meals and medicine for everybody, and many others. It is repeated hardships and unrest in societies that finally deliver start to terrorists and their fans.

Sadly you are speaking out of ignorance. Fighting terrorism is like fighting for freedom. We've let the terrorist groups grow over the last 20 years, ignoring their attacks. Now the problem is extremely large and daunting, but if we don't stop it now our children will not have the freedoms we take for granted every day. Admittedly we have problems in this country, but we can't ignore the bigger problems by saying that we're not a perfect society.

During the War of Independence, most people believed the way you do. Luckily, the very small amount who believed in freedom had the temerity to follow through and free our country.

You don't have to believe in freedom, but please get out of the way of those who do, ok?

In many way it is in vain, there was many that died on 9-11 but they have in many way been honored. Now with the war raging like it is it is not helping ether side at all there , if we kill one leader of a terrorist group another will take it's place.
I think that it is time to really give the Iraqi there freedom and let them stand on there own two feet. They are relying on us to much to take care of there problems. Just like a parent that bails a child out to much, they never learn. to take care of there own problems. the Iraqis need to learn the same thing.

It's all in vain if your goal is for these people to take over.

Don't lower us to their level, we'd have to do a lot of bad things to be any morale equivilant of terrorists!

And you're not the only one who deserves to live in a democracy. Why do we sing about wanting to "build the world a home and furnish it with love", but when it comes to giving them freedom, it's out of the question? Rape rooms and mass genocide--feel the love!

If you think democracy doesn't work. Why not compare North and South Korea.
Terrorism is a reality. Right or wrong, a fight must be waged on it.
If we don't, you can forget about enjoying the right to say and do what you are doing right now.
