How do you adjust the 2 points correctly on a Mallory dual point dist for a 1950 flathead V8?

well you need to have the correct specs but you want to bring the points open on there cam and adjust them to spec. now spec is going to be depending on your coil and sparg plug gap and so on, you are dealing with a flathead v8, call mallory or go online and send them an email

Make sure the point are on a lobe,dead center ,then set your points around 28 to 30 that has to be done on both sets.
You can always go to the mallery web site and find out.

A dwell meter gives best results,28 to 32 degrees.feeler gauges also can be used.open points by turning eng. over so points are at hi point of cam lobe,max open,set gap at 16 to 18 thousants.mallory may have better measurements , contact them or check local library auto manuals.

bump your starter until 1 set of points is open and on the lobe,set your gap and tighten down the points.
Do the same and set your second set of points, and tighten down the points.
This should get you mobile until you can have it set by a dwellmeter.
