Clean your fridge very well with disinfectant. It sounds like you've got a bacterial infection in your fridge. Some bacteria release ammonia as a metabolism by-product.

There are refrigerators that run on ammonia for a gas, these are in travel trailers and motor homes. I would say you just need to clean the inside good and put in some baking soda.

Your sense of smell is the best detector but, you may be wondering if it is refrigeration gas such as Freon. If it leaked out, your fridge would warm up very quickly. Where it is running fine, I would guess it may be some food product leaked in the vegtable bin.

is it under the fridge? do you have a dog or cat peeing on it? Maybe it is coming from drains or up through sink?
