I have to do a persuasive essay for college about this subject. I want to persuade people how Evolution should be taught in schools but not as FACT but as THEROY because that is really what it is. Kids these days are learning them as fact but i disagree because i looked it up and there are way many more reasons why Evolution is just a big lie. What do you think and why?

I think it would be fair and equal if both creation and evolution were taught in schools so that at least the students can have a different perspective on both theories.

It is taught it schools as theory. It is taught with the theory of gravity and the theory of relativity. When I was in school, I remember learning exactly what a theory was in the scientific process, and learning about some theories. I learned how gravity was not completely proven since there is still a lot to know about it. The same with evolution. I even had an anthropology class where we learned about different ideas, including creationism. This was all in high school. Maybe the schools you are talking about aren't as good as the one I went to.

But note that the evolution part was taught in science class, since evolution is based on science. And creationism was taught in the anthropology class, since it deals more with humanity and culture. this is how I think it should be done.

Charles Darwin noticed, in his travels around the world, certain types of evidence that he saw over and over again. Evolution theory is simply his explanation of what he observed. It was an organized, systematic way of describing it, and he gathered evidence and gave examples to 'prove' it.

Many scientists have made observaations, gathered information and tried to further prove his theory or disprove it. A large amount of information fits in the 'prove' side and a very small amount of information fits in the 'disprove' side, so, after a hundred years, evolution has been accepted as scientific fact by everyone, including the Catholic Church.

Electricity was discovered the same way. Ben Franklin noticed certain things about friction from walking on carpet, lightning strikes, and other natural ways that sparks get produced, and he called it 'electricity.' He made a theory that there must be positive and negative charges, that electric energy could be stored in a battery, and that metals 'conduct' (his words) it and earth doesn't. Ol' Ben then created and did experiments to gather evidence to prove his theory, and so did other scientists. After about five years, (people were smarter in those times; it was the Age of Enlightenment) electricity was declared as fact, and no longer theory.

Why is evolution any different to you than electricity? Both had religious people claiming that God did it (for electricity, the God of Abraham and Zeus of the Greek pantheon both like to 'smite' people with thunderbolts). If you have a battery anywhere, or use an electrical outlet to do anything, you have to believe in evolution and support teaching it as the only reasonable explanation for why we're here in the schools, or you are logically inconsistent.

First of all, you should probably not go into a persuasive essay with a bias against your topic. Second, you are correct in stating that evolution is a theory, however, all theories are based on facts which are scientifically based. Evolution is based on science, which is a major reason it should be taught in school, along with other core topics such as Biology and Chemistry. Third, alternative explanations, such as creationism or intelligent design, have religious connotations, which are banned by the separation of chuch and state stipend in our constitution. I don't agree with the fact that they shouldn't be taught as an alternative, but just not in a public school forum.

Ok, so you admit that evolution is a theory, but then you say it is a big lie. And, it is not being taught as a fact anywhere.
It is called "evolution theory."
It is, however, becoming a mainstream belief.
If you are still believing in creationism you need to get your head out of the dark ages.

I think SCIENCE should be taught in school. If evolution comes under science, then it should be taught.

Chow!!

Hey now! Quit being so harsh on her and her opinion! She said she "looked it up." So, of course she knows Evolution is one big lie! Jeez!
