Sitting here watching VH1, you oughta know, trying to be open-minded-but all I hear is crap, crap and more crap. What's with all the psuedo-rock singers like this Hinder group trying to be deep-all I hear is whining.

The Band Lodger has a song that might apply, it's called:

"Ordinary Men Make Ordinary Music"

Anyways, I cound't agree more, its not just VH1 but new Alternative radio as well, eh I try to be open minded too but with bands like Nickelback, Disturbed, Hinder, Stonesour and Evensance, its a little hard. Then the new music that's trying to take them on are the new emo craze...Panic at the Disco! Fallout boy, etc, really aren't any better. All of it is a load of whining agnst or anger filled garbage. All filler no killer. Ordinary people need their music, and these bands are happy to supply their cheesy songs.

It's alright though, there are plenty of old and new bands with a great, meaningful sound. I'm sure you already know plenty of the oldies, anyone in the "forever 27 club" (Cobain, Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin) etc. As for people still creating music I'm pretty fond of Tom Waits, Local H, Two Gallants and Lodger, but I'm sure you've got your own collection of bands.

most rock bands (classic and modern) have atleast one whiney song. it sells to the masses, and thats why it sounds like that, otherwise theyd still be doing local shows.

it doesnt even stop at rock, you see alot of country sound a little bit whiney from time to time.
