It means you can not get up unless you absolutely have too. Doctors don't put you on bed rest lightly. While i was on bed rest i signed Christmas cards, "Merry Christmas, the XXXX Family" so you aren't putting in a name you may have to change later. I've seen sonograms wrong before too, don't count your chicks! Write thank you notes to people who have helped you or again sign "generic" notes, "Thanks for everything. The XXXX Family" Sign birthday cards for the upcoming year, address envelopes. Start a life journal for your baby, tell them every memory you have as a child leading up to being pregnant. This sounds like a lot but you will be preparing for the future. Funny but my son is 9 and I still have enough Christmas cards for one more year. It helps if you feel like you are accomplishing something you will have to do later anyway. Or it did me anyway. Congrats, but take it seriously, please.

pretty much. I was put on bedrest twice (two pegnancies). The sex was the hardest (I have to admit, I cheated a few times) the first time, and having a child to care for when you are on bedrest is no picnic. Have someone pick up some books to read, watch a lot of movies, play sudoku, whatever, just stay on your back as much as possible. Gravity is not your friend. Only get up to grab a bowl of cereal, a sandwich, or to go to the bathroom. Keep meals simple (15 min. to get it, and get it cleaned up). Crock pots are great. (if you need good recipes, IM me) Remember, this is best for your baby, so pray, read, and be the best couch potato in the world!!

Good luck and God bless you!!

If your doctor put you on bed rest, you should limit what you do. Getting up to use the bathroom or taking a shower is usually okay. If you have questions about being on bedrest, you should have asked your doctor. Only he or she knows the level of activity that would be safe for you and baby. Assuming you are pregnant. Talk to your doctor. But refrain from sex.

Bed rest means no strenuous activity or anything that would require moving around.

When I was on bed rest for preterm labor, I did a lot of reading, watching TV, crocheting etc. Nothing that would make the contractions start again or increase.

You can read, watch tv, write letters, make a collage...type on computer...etc. etc. You are not to do physicial work...at all. You are to rest as much as possible with low stress. Sleep while you can. Knit the baby something pretty and special that only you made. Learn to knit if you don't know how. This is the perfect time! Believe me, sounds like it is forever...but time does go fast. A healthy baby and pregnancy is the most important. My best to you and healthy deliveries.

I'm afraid it means you should rest and relax as much as possible.Do nothing other than to go to the toilet, take your bath, brush your teeth and such like with minimum of effort. If i were you i'll occupy those golden moments with watching good comedies on tv that can help me relax properly.

Yep, unfortunately it does. And if you do it has to be minimal effort especially if you are pregnant, you have been put on bed rest for a good reason. Enjoy it, when the baby comes you won't get much!!!! : )
