yes I am bothered about the amount of violence in movies lately. I have never particularly enjoyed viewing horror movies and now it seems that all Hollywood is focused on right now is to see who can scare whom the best. This is not good for our kids. If they are saturated with evil and horror as they grow up they will become what they have watched - evil and have no morals of what is right and good in life.
Just watching the news, online and on local news all the top stories have been little Johnny or little Suzie going to school with a chip on the shoulder and a gun, bullying little ones. This is not good and makes me scared of sending my kids to school - even though they are still to young to go!!

I agree with you. It's embarrassing for me & I doubt there are many people that have this problem but if I see a picture or a preview of something really horror like, it can make me have a panic attack or get really sick. It's hard if I want to rent a movie because of some of those covers, I'm looking for a movie but I'm trying not to look at them, lol. If I go the movies & it may have scary previews I have to stay outside until they are over. I know it's ridiculous to be that way but I can't help it. I watched a lot of horror movies when I was a kid & I think it ruined me!

I hate slasher films. I swear it, the goal of a slasher film is either to see who lives, or to wonder how everyone else dies. I am a writer, and therefore look for a plot to the movie. And slasher flicks just do not ever explain why everyone dies. They just do. I also hate it when movies are deliberately scary. I just don't like it. You either do a Jack-in-the-box, where someone jumps out, or just appears out of nowhere, or someone dies in some unexpected way. Mindhunters, Ghost Ship, Identity, 28 Days Later. The list goes on forever. Don't watch any of those, by the way. What I look for when I think scary is something a bit more intelligent than just some unknown figure killing everyone. Norman Bates in Psycho. Now, that's scary. A perfectly normal, nice person at first glance ends up murdering a girl at his motel.

I don't watch horror films after seeing just a few when I was younger. My children weren't permitted to watch them as they were growing and don't have any desire to do so now. I find that the horror films desensitize a person's ability to be compassionate to others. They feed on the violence and in order to satisfy that hunger the movies have become darker and more violent. It is their choice and they are welcome to it but as for us we decline and don't rent or buy any of it.

Hm, no. I'm not swayed. I've seen some pretty bad things outside of movies, and have watched horror movies from the beginning... I'm pretty desensitized... but that has also helped in real-life gorey moments, and being traned in all kinda of Red-Cross classes, I am calm during those, and have saved a life because I was not squeamish.
Man, the ones on TV are censored, so those aren't even as lame as the full ones. If those bother you, make sure you NEVER watch an italian Horror Movie. Especially zombie ones, whoa. I just like zombies in general, though. Especially the movies..Mhm..
I was told I like the glamor of Horror Movies. I just like it on screen, but not into it outside of the boundaries of the screen.
That's just me. I know plenty of people who hate it, and that's fine...you have to accept others like it...Just stay back you'll be fine! :-)

I used to get scared by horror movies. Now I find them to be hilarious. The writers of these movies don't know what true horror is. I saw true horror when I watched my father die. I'm sure there are other true horrors. But I think one of the purposes of horror movies is to desensitize people to gore. Peace.

Horror movies bring in the most money. Some people liked to be scared and some like the adrinlin rush they get from being scared and yet they know they are in a safe place.

Not really. I have a phobia of clowns and i go crazy. But other than clowns, Everytime I see a horror movie, I laugh instead of getting scared. Last night I saw the Exorcist, I laughed on the whole movie. My boyfriend peed on his pants and it made me laugh more. But be careful for 2morrow.

I agree with you! I cannot stand the horror movies of today that glorify gore and violence. Often, I will discourage my oldest daughter from wasting her money on the garbage in the theatres and she might see it on cable. My daughter and I do like the television stories about hauntings and ghost stories. I find these things more scary and suspenseful .

My girlfriend feels the same way so we're gonna watch a dvd instead. But some people appreciate the genre, you have to accept that. They wouldn't air them if they didn't have an audience. Personaly I think there's enough pain in the real world and I don't feel the need to watch more on tv. But that's just our opinion, ultimately it's a matter of personal taste.
