If it doesn't say, DO NOT DISCONNECT, then you should be okay. You can generally give it a basic charge in about an hour, but you should probably charge it again at home on the computer you have the Ipod set up on and let it charge overnight. That should give it juice for quite awhile.

do not just disconnect...I used to and my computer stopped recognizing my ipod video.I'm not very handy with them so I just picked up a book from target-the rough guide to ipods-itunes and music online....let me look for your answer...click the eject button to the right of the ipod icon in the source list or the eject button in the bottom right corner of the itunes window. it also says that simply unplugging it could crash your computer, mash song data or ruin your ipod hard drive.try looking for help in www.ipodlounge

You only need worry about unplugging it when you are updating it,
and it will say "do not disconnect when you are updating it."
You can unplug it if you are only charging. Let it charge as long as it needs it, but you can pull out of charging early.

If the hard drive is not spinning and the battery is fine then it should be ok. You an tell if the hard drive is spinning by putting your ear on the back of the ipod.

I'm sure it is fully charged. Unplug it. If not, something is wrong with it.
