I think the only way you have a chance of getting one now it to wait in line on the launch day.

The preorders are over and Sony is cracking down on companies who export Japanese product to the US.

I'm not sure if the units will be region coded but I have to assume the will be. Region coding will prevent you from playing US games unless you modify the unit.

If the units are region coded, you might as well wait.

See if you can purchase from a Japanese stockist? It is only Japan and parts of the US that are getting the first shipments.

Demand is high, supply is low - market forces are not going to be giving you a cheap here. Unless you visit and queue in person for hours your ony likely way of getting one IS paying over the odds.

As has been mentioned already, the alternative is to simply wait for a while but I am guessing that is not quite what you had in mind :)

Onlie Japanese stores would be my main suggestion - followed by queing up with everyone else in eiter Japan or the US.

EB Games is a chain across the USA where you can get reconditioned units with warranties. They are pretty trustworthy. You can also check Ebay.
