El Cozumeleno is a great hotel.

As far as diving, there is no such thing as "Bad" diving in Cozumel! It's not as great as 15 years ago because of all the tourists, but still great. Make sure you dive Palancar Bricks and do a night dive (Then go out for a lobster dinner!).

Stay away from the "Dive House" dive shop though - They stole credit card numbers from both myself and best friend a few years ago and racked up huge bills!

If you are looking for another alternative to Cozumel, with great diving and low tourism, I would suggest Tobago (Off the Coast of Venezuela). It's cheaper there (You can get a great roasted chicken dinner at a place in town for $3.50) and the diving is far superior to Cozumel these days because it hasn't been over-dived (Yet). It's like Cozumel was 15 years ago! The Hilton is a great place to stay.

I recommend staying in the southern hotel zone... closer to the reefs. I like staying at El Cid La Ceiba personally. There are tons places to dive... http://www.cozumeldiveguide.com/islandmap/cozumel.html

El cozumeleno is the best hotel there.
Trust me, Ive been there twice.

Great place! right on the beach. lots to do: volleyball, rent snorkles, jet ski, ice cream machine!, little cafe right on the beach (FREE FOOD) that has the nice breeze going through, hammicks, 2 pools, hot tubs, ...
