At the beginning of the cartoon, they would walk towards the screen to a classical peice of music and at the end walk away from it... I think the dog was an Old English Sheep Dog, like the one of the Dulux ads.

Yep, sounds like Barney. At least, the old english sheepdog sounds like Barney. I don't remember any mouse, but it was so long ago (and I was so young) that I don't remember anything other than Barney and a wooden fence...

I remember Barney, wow that's brought back lots of memories.

it wasnt the one they made before the raccoons got a t.v. series was it, I remember that time.
