I know people can name stars, and I just wanted to know if there was a price attached to that, and if so, how much?

You can pay some company around $30.00, or do it yourself. Either way, the official names of all celestial bodies can only be decided on by the International Astronomical Union. I urge you to check out this website before deciding ==> http://enzerink.net/peter/astronomy/starfaq/

It's basically a rip off. All the stars that science knows are named either with a combination of numbers and letters (star catalog names) or by constellation names with letters attached to them -- like Ursa Major Alpha. Some brighter ones even have their own name -- Polaris, Vega etc.

I think some company will sell you a "deed" to a star for about 50 bucks and let you name it. Only you and the company will know the name. In fact they may "sell" the same star more than once for all I know. It's kind of a cute gift idea but the new name has no significance to anyone else -- it's not any kind of official name.

If it was a real star and someone was sellling it(them), there is absolutely NO price tag that could be attached. Yes, I know there is some organization or whatever selling the possibility of putting your name on a star or the name of someone else's but it is just a means of getting money.. It is a sort of legalized scam

The only astronomical bodies that you can name are the comets and planetary nebula you discover. Stars are named according to conventions by the IAU.

I know someone who 'bought' a star without knowing that, and then wanted to see it in our university's telescope. Long story short, they sold her a 28th magnitude star - you'd need Hubble to see it - and it didn't even exist in any astronomy catalouge. They're selling fake stars - they're selling nothing.

Besides, what if the beings living there take offense to the name you've chosen? You could bring disaster to all of mankind.
