i agree 100% i am black and i consider myself very successful and i don't talk or act ghetto at all. when i speak proper English i get a lot of backlash from other black people and they say that I'm trying to be white! since when was speaking proper English a white attribute? it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with being intelligent and educated. i hear you!

They are playing to the crowd, or who they think is the crowd. Truth be told for some it is not an act, it is how they grew up so they think they have to keep up that identity to keep "street cred".
This is not limited to black people. I live in Los Angeles, I have seen Asians, Latinos, Armenians, and other ethnic group kids adopting the language and act of the ghetto.

Because, thats the way they are and money isn't going to change them. It doesn't have to impress you, but they are just being themselves. It is some white people out there who are off the chain also, Courtney Love etc... Just because you moved out of the ghetto and make millions, doesn't take those ghetto roots out of them.

Street "cred" and "keepin it real." They work in jobs that they feel requires it. Almost always entertainment which includes sports. Some people feel that by acting in the way you call ghetto they are being true to themselves, their roots and other blacks.
