Personally, I don't really see a difference. I'm honest with people all the time. It's hillarious. People hate being told the truth. Like that girl who had an ugly baby, she absolutely hated when I mentioned it. She hasn't spoken to me since. Now THAT'S funny.

There's a difference between honesty and politeness. There are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed, not even if you think you're favouring the truth and defending reality.
If you'd have an ugly child, who you would love, you would definitely not consider him ugly and you'd hate it just as much if people would keep mentioning it. When you say such things, you're not giving up on politeness and favouring the truth, you're actually just showing the selfish side of your character. People think that you are mean and selfish because you focus on the negative aspect instead of overlooking it. That's how most people interpret it.

Yes, people do hate being reminded about the truth, including you. But we all know the truth. So what's the use of being reminded of it all the time? That's why politeness standards were invented: to keep people from getting bored when they get tired of telling the truth.

Lol. Seriously, what you are basing your question on and what I'm basing my answer on is not the truth. It's called selective truth. There are just bits of selective truths, which are called opinions. And this is what the structure of the world stands on.

Honesty

Honesty is a wonderful quality when it is presented with respect, like telling someone you love that one shirt looks better on them than another. You dont have to point out all their flaws, just gently point them in the right direction. When used tactlessly the truth does hurt - like when you told that lady her baby was ugly.

Comedy is great when it doesnt pull down and ridicule others, I find comedians who are constantly tearing others down quite dull and uninteresting. I dont even bother watching them.

When you start coupling your truth telling with respect, you wont even need to try be funny, people will just gravitate towards you.

Honesty, yes. But that doesn't mean that some things are just better left unsaid. That is not to be dishonest. Cruelty is much, much worse. Obviously, you are perfect. You look great, are smarter than the average bear, your kindness is on the vein of Mother Theresa's and have no imperfections at all. This appears to allow you to be cruel to others and never have to worry about anyone saying anything cruel to you. Did I hit that right?

I'd take comedy over honesty. I love a good laugh, but who wants to be told bad things? The lady with the dogface spawn would probably agree.

Ha ha... Well, I do like honesty, but I am a laid back person and I like to be able to laugh more... Honesty isn't always a good thing because honesty has left me feeling horrible for a long time... I'd rather have a good laugh! :-)

Honesty....... But if you don't have any thing nice to say, in ALL honesty why say it! Some people think it is funny to laugh at others misfortunes. MEAN PEOPLE SUCK!! The truth is meant to help others whether its good or bad.
