is Ghana dude, no one expect team like that first timer can be advance to round of 16 especially they were in dead lock group with Italy, USA, and Cze all top 5 in the world by fifa ranking. ghana swin perfomanc agasin Cze. well is history repeat it self many times first itme africe team can suprse the world. Hope we see that more next worldcup.

Ghana surprised me the most at the 2006 World Cup, coming out of Group E on top of more established teams such as the Czech Republic and the USA. The African contingent at Germany 2006 was also a largely unknown quantity, without the usual big names like Nigeria and Cameroon. However, Ghana managed to make it to the 2nd round by beating the Czech Republic, one of the best sides in the world, 2-0.
Amongst the unseeded teams, Ghana made the biggest impact, seeing as how Ukraine, Ecuador and Sweden got through relatively easy groups in fairly unspectacular fashion. It was a pity for Ghana to meet Brazil, the best team in the world , so early in the competition. I'm pretty sure the world would have enjoyed much more of what the boys from Africa had to offer.

Ghana. It was their debut in world cup and their moment to shine! The victory over Czech Republic and USA was great!! Also they put up quite a fight against the Brazilians, and I applaud them also for this!!

ECUADOR did well above their expactation to reach the second round of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. they finished in second place behind GERMANY with two wins from their opening two matches & they nearly upset ENGLAND before losing 1-0 in an equally dull match.

The teams which amazed and shocked me-
Amazed me-
1.Ghana-It was amazing to see an African nation reach the round of 16.
2.Croatia-even though they lost to Brazil,they performed Brilliantly
3.France-Allez les bleues!!2006 was fabulous for the french team-Zizou agreed to play,they reached the finals.And i supported them with all my heart.
Shocked me-
1.Italy-(I'm gonna get many thumbs down for this,but heck who cares?)How ca such a worthless scandal hit country win one of the most respected Football tournaments in the world??
2.Brazil-Worlds highest ranked team out of form.CAn you believe that?

i am a fan of Spain, they played well in the world cup, but i was surprised when they lost 3-1 from France, i mean if it was 3-2 or 2-1 it would've been better...i was surprised by France's performance, they were great...i was also surprised about argentina's performance, they could've at least won germany

I say Ghana because they made it all the way to the round of 16 in their first World Cup...and they only condeded 2 goals to the "best team in the world" Brazil
