I spend money to get things for dinner to cook.
we spend so little time together (although we still live in the same house;) that a lovely dinner with all the family members, when we can talk and just enjoy ourselfs is a wonderful gift. we do it on everybodys birthday, if any gifts are there - that would be boxes of chocolates to share or a bottle of wine to drink.

I'm in a long term relationship and I have spent from nothing to a few hundred Euro. Sometimes there is something that I know that he will love and I will get it for him, whatever the cost. My main problem is trying to think of something that he would like. One year I made him up vouchers. Like I'd give him a massage for a minimum of 30 minutes, or I would cook a special dinner or collect him from somewhere. It cost nothing, but we had great fun!! I think the best presents are those that a lot of thought goes into, it doesn't matter what the price.

I usually dont care how much i will spend as a gift for my partner as long as i know it will mean sooo much to him.
But it normally depends on how deep the relationship is (and how long have u been in that relationship).
but on average spend, for the last few years i've spent AUD 300 - 500 for partner's bday gift. and i always feel happy to spend it to know that he'll b happy to receive it..

I spend about $200-$300. I have the money to spend this amount. If I didn't then it would be less. It's not about me trying to spend a lot of money because material things are not important, but I do like to get nice things.

all these people who are spending a fortune on their partners birthday obviously dont have any other commitments, once you have kids the price of presents drop dramaticly, i would say in the region of 50 quid because xmas is only 8 weeks away and you cant do both at 500 quid lol, unless you work all the hours or get in debt.

Dont make it about the amount but the true thought behind the gift. Listen to his likes, wants, his desires and find something really unique. A lot of people have lost touch and think its about the price but its honestly about the sincere thought!

I usually spend up to the last cent in my pocket, even if it means i'll have to borrow from friends for my own upkeep. I know its not material stuff that counts but hey i just do it

I'm pretty poor, whereas he has a well paid job and is able to buy everything he wants. I would get him something that is meaningful for around £20 and put the rest of my money into our life together- house, bills, food etc
