Well in my opinion, Hugh Jackman was considered the bad guy because of all he did to Borden. But then again he blamed him for his wifes death, which he is partially responsible for because he did tie the double knot. Borden didnt have a duplicate, he had a twin brother from birth. They would switch places every so often. One would be Alfred Borden and the other would be that Fawny character. You can tell which is which because Sarah would say, Today you love me, and the brother who wasnt in love with sarah, the one in love with olivia would always argue with sarah, but the brother who really loved sarah and who had a daughter with her, the one who survived in the end wouldnt really fight with her too often. So in the end, Angier and his clone died, and the one borden brother, who was in love with Olivia died, and the other twin, survived and was reunited with his daughter.

1) Angier is the "bad guy".
2) Both Borden's are true Bordens. They are identical twin brothers name Alfred and Bernard Borden (I didn't get the second name until my second viewing). They both share a life as Alfred/Freddy Borden aka The Professor and they share a life as Fallon, the assistant. Alfred is married to Sarah, "Freddy" is in love with the female assitant.
Borden never had a machine made by Tesla, he was trying to get his twin brother back from Angier. Angier performs tricks. Borden performs illusions.

i beleive it was the true borden at the end of the movie who had survivedbc he gavemost of the info to fill in of the movie of how he did the trick, and his family. as for the good and bad guy ..... angier was the bad guy, bc remember he had buried someone alive and borden ran to undig them also he faked his death nailed borden for it and took his daughter under another name. also the character that michael caine was somewhat a bad guy bc it seemed like he was getting them to compete with each other and was was on borden side all along all along. borden didwas create a new trick and had his brother help him do it.

considering that i'm a die-puzzling Balehead,my glaring answer is Christian.i in my opinion like and appreciate Hugh Jackman and prefer Christian,he's nice-looking,quite horny,multi-proficient,very charismatic and level-headed.yet he's not what I evaluate an extremely "large actor"imo, and he has nowhere close to the intensity, and intensity that Christian has,yet then, who does? in spite of the indisputable fact that,I did love both absolutely one of their performances in "The status". i imagine they were both remarkable, and had large on-show chem, that quite stumbled on as very actual, and accessible.i'd in my opinion like to confirm them do yet another percenttogether!!! Wolverine vs Batman everyone?
