You have 30 teams with 12 players each. plus 2 additional spots on the inactive list. So for arguments sake lets say there are 420 people in the NBA. Thats less than 1% of the total U.S. population. The same can almost be said about the WNBA.
The NBA is also over 75% black

how many pro ball players are there? just take the number of folks on a team and multiply by the number of teams.
the percentage is really really small. They are picked by their talent, up thru high school and college. They work really hard to get there.
