bicarbonate of soda is a wonderful thing for getting rid of nasty smells...... put item in a bag / pillowcase, put in a couple of tablespoons of bicarb, give it a good shake, leave it overnight. this will help get rid of the smell

Leather should be cleaned with oil- the same stuff used on a baseball mit. later add a fragrence- Motorcycle mist.
