CHOCOLATE! Definitely not raisins or fruit! And, for me, none of the dreaded ones I have, over the years, broken a tooth on (those yucky peanut butter kisses, Skittles, Good and Plenty).
A friend who liked to play those crane games in bars and restaurants used ot collect stuffed animals all year and give a kid a choice of candy or an animal. Little bitty kids in cute costumes got both.

Chocolate!- like SNickers, Reeses pnut btr cups, 3 Musketers, Twix, Hershey bars, Mars bars -in mini size of course!!- forget the cheap taffy in the twisted wrappers-` yuck!
