Winning the world series usually results in increased revenue through merchandising. Supporters of the team buy "stuff" with the team logo and the year they won the world series. Also, fans who may not own any "stuff" with the team logo are more likely to buy some. This increaced profit area can allow owners to invest back into the team by buying better players, coaches, and facilities. Also, players whose contacts have expired with their current team are more likely to sign with a team who has just won the world series, this may result in the team haveing a more diverse selection of whom to sign next year.

Well money mostly, but all the players on the team will be a Champion they can claim that for the rest of there life. No one can ever take that away. When you get right down to it that's what every player really plays for.But the money is nice too.Just ask any pro player in any sport and they will tell you they play to win a CHAMPIONSHIP. This is what frustrates me the most , why would any player just move to another team for more money when they know that the team there on has a chance to Win.John Mabry comes to mind he jumped ship because the Cardinals wouldn't give him a 2 year deal. Well he got a 2 year deal but it was with a last-place club(CUBS), I know that hes kicking his self for not taking the Cards deal. How many MILLIONS does these premadonnas need.Go for the Rings MAN. there are so many great players that have never had the opportunity to play for a Championship. AMEN

Before the age of astronomical salaries, winning the world series was also an incentive to make more money based on the prizes offered to each of the teams participating based on winning and losing the series.

The pluses to winning are you can increase your fan base and the flat out ability to know that you are a part of the best baseball team on the planet!!!!!!!

You have the joy of being US baseball champions, not really WORLD series champs. Most teams don't do well the following season, some teams lose players who now want more money. Some of them will get signed, but the others will move on.

Mostly financial. Between the money from the playoffs, merchandise that denotes World Series Champion, and more preseason ticket sales than their team averages normally. The only other would be prestige and to have other players that want to go to a championship team assuming the team stays together.

As individuals each player receives a healthy share of world series money, world championship rings, advertising endorsements which can be worth millions and others bonuses. The franchise received network broadcasting contracts to air their games more often than usual which again is worth millions of dollars.

Professional pride in being the World Champion. For most of these guys, the money doesn't pay their cleaning bill (for some rookies, coaches and clubhouse personel, it means a whole lot more.)
