I want to bleach white T-shirts, but don't want to ruin clothes in the next loads. Do I need to run an "empty" load to rinse the bleach out of the washer before I put other clothes in?

Shouldn't. If that should happen it would indicate that the washer is not fully disposing of the water which would mean serious problems with your drain and/or washer. The rinse cycle following the wash cycle should easily clean out all of the bleach from the wash cycle.
unless you have a reason to believe that there is a problem with the washer you can feel 100% safe in following the whites with coloreds(is that word still politically incorrect?).

If you are doing the whites with bleach before other loads, just make sure to wipe down the top of the washer. That way if you happened to spill any bleach it wont transfer to the next load. As far as bleach getting in the next load from the dispenser that shouldnt happen. Personally I always do the bleach load last, then clean up the laundry area.

No, laundry cycles go wet, soap, bleach, rinse. The rinse will clear out the bleach. If you aren't happy with that, do a load of towels or sheets before you go on to anything else. Any problem with bleach generally comes from splashing it all over the machine, getting all over you and the clothes around it.

It shouldn't, especially if you don't use more than the recommended amount. If you're concerned, you could use a second rinse cycle (available on many machines) or after the wash is finished, turn the dial to the rinse section of the cycle again. Try not to make a regular habit of this, though, as the extra water use isn't kind to our planet.

Consider using an environmentally friendly bleach, like the one available from Seventh Generation. It's available in regular grocery stores where I live (eastern Pennsylvania.)

Everyone says it shouldn't. However my story is different. When I do tshirts and socks I use bleach in the wash water. A few times the next load was acutally affected {pissed off my husband} so since then I have put in towels as our second load. After all if they get messed up they are cheaper then buying him all new shirts

No- the bleach will leave 90% when on the Wash Cycle, and the rest on the rense cycle.

No. If you're worried about it then run the rinse cycle a second time.

Better safe than sorry, I always use my second rinse feature when bleaching.

I think it's pretty clear on the product label. But just to be safe, I also prefer using Clorox Pen sample. The pen-like tool is a lot more convenient to use. You may as well browse this site http://www.upkb.com/cloroxpen.php for product inquiries and details.
