The premises cost less.
The staff are paid less.
There are lower business taxes.
The ingredient are local and thus cost less.
They don't need to spend as much on advertising as the Western media does it for them...

I could go on and on!

That's two good reasons to leave UK and live in Thailand like I did 16 years ago!

But the average Thai wage is only about £120 per month, so it all works out about the same, unless you can earn a UK income in Thailand - like pension for example.

It probably has to do with taxes. You in the UK are so highly taxed, so I imagine the prices are a lot higher on items because of that. Things in Canada are higher than the US like that.

In the US, a big mac meal costs around $3.50. (What is that a pound or pound 1/2, I'm not sure of the conversion?) And cigs cost anywhere from $2.00-$4.00 (in KY where I live, but we have one of the lowest tobacco tax in the US)

Tax and minimum wage.

The cost of a burger has little to do with the actual product the real cost comes from the cost running the building. In Thailand it's cheap because they have lower taxes and pay their staff less.

I often wonder things like that, I'm from UK and live in Malta a Big Mac is much dearer here than in UK, People in Thailand probably have crap wages, but they are not much better here, so who decides on Big Mac Prices???

The Big Mac isn't even big in Japan! And it costs twice that of the Big Mac in the States!
That said, McDonald's is icky and I'd rather eat at a real restaurant. Anyone with me?

I think that Thai money is less than the Uk. The US has to pay twice as much in the uk for a hamburger.
