I have an indicator light permanently on the dashboard. it is the shape of the engine but I was unable to locate the diagnostic point to find out what the problem is. It does not affect the functioning of the car-yet.

its behind the left side of the glove box. Also if you look at the bottom of your steering wheel, on the cover it will tell you the location

That light is your "check engine light" or CEL.
Go to autozone or Advanced auto Parts or any other place that will give you a free diagnostic. They will know where the connector is.
