The only way to know is to install anti-spyware software (easily obtained) and run a diagnostic on your computer.

I don't believe your ex-wife installed any spy ware or cookies on you computer, because your regular anti-spy ware would detect it. She may have however installed a "key logger" that would record what ever you enter on your keyboard.(Aside from the obvious such as since she is not your wife anymore and the legal implications of privacy and intellectual laws she may have broken!)you should check your running processes/services and see what is there. First, (I'm assuming your running Windows XP) click on start, then click on run, then in the box type: services.msc ( The console will then show you a list of all the services registered on your computer).most services are accompanied by a lot of detail about what they do, so make sure you have the"extended" tab clicked to view it all. as you scroll down the list pay particular attention to any that have "Started" in the status column.these are programs that are currently running and using resources on you computer.Unless it says that it is a key logger program do not I repeat do not turn of anything else except what I'm about to suggest unless you are familiar with this,or your computer will start doing strange things!(not good!) these are in alphabetical order: COMPUTER BROWSER,keeps track of other systems currently connected to your network,so you can turn this off if you have a stand alone system.IPSEC, if you are a telecommuter and need to connect to a remote network via a VPN, then this may be useful, if not, turn it off. REMOTE REGISTRY SERVICE, unless you have a good reason to allow remote users to modify and/or peak around in your registry turn this off as well. TELNET, allows remote users to log onto your computer and run programs. So turn this off unless you really need this feature.
After you do this, turn off and reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. then change your passwords. and then set your computer up to require a password on administrative accounts so if anyone logs on any other account they can not install programs or access important/private data. Now would be a good time to download for free "CCLEANER"(the first c is for crap) and clean out all your superfluous junk.Your computer will run alot faster and have alot of stuff cleaned out you do not want people to see.Run this program once a week to keep things ship shape. there is much more on this subject but this should help you out, remember, PREVENTION is the best cure!!! Any more questions I'll be glad to help as time permits.

Run anti-virus and anit-spyware software. Also password protect any documents you don't want her to see. When you know she will be over, clear your history from your webbrowser so you'll know if she's gone online while you were gone.

If she's not computer literate, just turn off the modem. I did that w/ my ex and he couldn't figure out why the computer couldn't get online :)

If it is running slow, that is one indication that I have found.

Go to download.com and install spybot...it is free and has helped me to remove a ton of spyware.

I'll bet if you have spyware though, it is probably not because of her. You can pick that up anywhere. Especially if you have kids that surf the net a lot.

That isn't what spyware does. If you're worried that she somehow installed a program on your computer that allows her remote access to it, simply search your computer for anything unfamiliar to you and delete it if you find something.

If you get a lot of spam e-mail, you should doubt that your computer might have been installed with the spywares.

wouldn't your password protect the sensitive parts of your pc .it's always a good idea to reguarly clear your history of what you have looked up lately . your mail would be safe unless she knows your password and if she does, change the password if she is coming back again.
