Spend money on staples, but buy trends and fashion accessories cheap. Jeans, coats and cocktail or formal dresses should have a lot of money put aside, but others, such as t-shirts, belts and hats should be as cheap as possible. thatw ay, you can update them each year. Also, DONT ever follow trends. Take it from somebody who works in the industry. If you wear a 'fashion' you're already out of date. Try to create your own look, and if you do follow a trend, make it your own, with a handbag that doesnt match, or a pair of heels instead of flats.

Just look at hollywood. They have all the money, They have all the clothes = they have all the trends.
Pick a star with style that you really like, I like Rachel Bilson and Sienna Miller. Just keep up with pictures and see what they're wearing, anything you like, go find at a store near you. Mix and match, have fun with it.

Why would they? The best way to keep up, is to stay one step ahead. Wear what you want to wear, develop your own style, and you can be pretty sure it will always be in. Because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
