Everything has the same property you have mentioned. Except only a few,

1) In case of volatile sublimates like Camphor or Ammonium Chloride, you can't witness the phase change. As you heat them, it will appear as if they change from solid to gas, & on drainage of heat it will appear as if they have change from gas to solid, but under suitable circumstances you may witness those matters in liquid state.

2) Some compounds dissociate on heating.eg.- Calcium Carbonate on heating dissociates into Calcium Oxide & Carbon di oxide. So one can't find Calcium carbonate in liquid phase.

except those two types, every solid melts into liquid on heating & every liquid solidifies on extraction of heat. This is one of the basic properties of matter.

Anything can change between the states of Gas, Liquid and Solid it all just depends on the temperature!

The funny thing about Water becoming Ice is that unlike most substances that contract as they get colder and become solid, Water/Ice grows because it forms Crystals!

"Mercury" ! , at room temperature, is a liquid, though it is a metal, because its melting point is very low, at lowereing the temperature though practiclly it is not possible, for acadamic purose, it should become a solid. The second part of your question is automatically answered, it is again mercury.
