1) I would rather plug my ears THAN listen to you.
I hope you have understood now the contxt in which THAN is used.
Than is the comparitive degree / when either 2 things have to be compared Ex ; My brother is older than I.
also than is used when preferences / choices are given. Ex; I like strwberry flavor more than vanilla.
