Yes it is a song lyric...

"When you stare into space with that little smile,
what dream is it your brain is caressing?

Are you thinking of that camel's trial
In which you were caught undressing?"

ARTIST: New Kids On The Block (NKOTB), 1997

Actually when I'm staring into space and smiling I am generally pretending to listen to a client retell one of her very long, too familiar stories that I can't begin to tell you how much they bore me now. What I'm generally thinking is "I can't wait for this shift to be over" or "now I know where this story is leading and next she will be talking about ________". Occasionally I'll hear the beginning of a new story and perk up a bit and be able to make more comments than the ones I've already programmed myself to automatically say.

When I daydream, it usually involves seeing myself sitting in the sunshine, on the edge of a grassy cliff, overlooking the ocean at Big Sur...watching the waves crash against the rocks, while my special someone plays ball in the yard with my dogs, and I think how very fortunate I am to not be forced to work a mundane job, and to have this life. Ahhhh...dreams...aren't they wonderful!
(song lyric or not...it's a great question!)

If I smile my little smile while staring at space usually means something bad is gonna happen. The devil in me is coming out to play.

lots of things. Usually I just create funny situations in my head with people I know. Sometimes I think of what might be a funny ad or funny movie concept. Sometimes I recall something funny that recently happened, but change details to make it funnier. These are just the things I think about that put a little smile on my face. Lots and lots of stupid things.

One of my dreams is to think about what body is at the top of those legs.

Almost always a sensual abstraction that morphs as readily as the
same unbridled dreams I swim with, asplash in the depths of my brainpan, those delicious early morning minutes afore I awaken.

And you?

Thinking how good the sex was with my ex-boyfriend when we loved each other, which was an all too brief moment three years ago.
