i am an american. but sadly, there are "americans" who would trade freedom and liberty for safety. they tell me to grow up and realize people just want to be safe. well, i realized a long time ago that safety is an illusion, something to comfort little kids with. we should stop deluding ourselves. how do you think people die in car accidents? cause safety is an illusion. thats why i drive slow. because in most situations, you will not be hurt going slow. but i don't rely on that. we americans are the model of peace and prosperity. i'm worried. what do you think i should do?

I am not sure what the answer to this question is. If you are talking about accidents having a direct correlation to speed then that is not an entirely true scenario. People are hurt or killed in cars all the time in which neither driver was exceeding the speed limit or driving in an unsafe manner. The statement that you made about driving slowly so as not be injured is not a true statement. It really doesn't matter how fast you are driving if you are hit by someone at a high rate of speed the chances for injury may be decreased, but I doubt it. The solution is that drivers should be mature and responsible and I think that the majority are. Laws need to be enforced and people need to slow down. Kind of hard to do in this "me" oriented society we live in.

I'm an american in a metropolitan city and I feel safe. You should put the hammer down and live a little. These SUV's are pretty sturdy rides y'know. I guess if you are worried about safety on the road. You could get a 70's era family car thats made out of steel, instead of aluminum and fiberglass, those things are tanks!

You are so right. Western governments have managed to persuade citizens that with less freedom will make us safe. There cameras everywhere, security systems, security measures and yet, nothing is changing. OK, i know after they put cameras in the British double buses the rapes stopped but did that stopped the rapers in London? no!
They make us sacrifice our freedom just to have an illusion of safety just because they want to control us. We accepted cameras everywhere, we accepted the fact that internet is being spied, that cell phones and land lines are tapped. Do you see any crime reduction? Of course not. People get poorer every day and of course they will commit crimes, while Presidents and Prime Ministers enjoy their control over us. What makes me more angry? We are not criminals and they know it. They just love the feeling of control over us and we, as sheep, go and vote for them one more time

saftey is an illusion, however you are not going to change the majority, so I would move. England is fun, however we seem to follow america at da moment. However I have to disagree with ur statement that americans are the model of peace and prosperity. There is so much that doesnt agree with that statement, however again my advice is move

Did you forget your medication this morning, son? You are rambling a bit.
There's nothing 100% safe. We do try, though.

Follow the instructions on the pill bottle and that should be safe enough to get you through the day.
