it all stems back (way back) to the puritan lifestyle (think pilgrims)
for centuries, women had to do all the housework, didn't have any say in what happened politically or otherwise, had to depend on men, etc. etc.
well, eventually in the 1900's they got fed up with that and started the feminist movement
some good things have come out of it, afterall, I do believe all people should have an equal chance to do whatever they want (within reason, such as have a job, vote, etc)
however, what has resulted is an economy that depends on women working and so for the few women who would enjoy being able to stay home and do nothing but let the man take care of her and raise the family are faced with the challenge of not being able to do it unless the man makes a minimum salary of $45,000 (which for young couples starting out is not an easy thing to do!)
So, women are brought up to believe they have to find a career these days because the us economy is so dependent on it (imagine if all women stopped working - it would be chaos)
There's a lot more to the radical feminist point of view, but I'm not going to get into it here - I think blaming it on our economy is enough to get the point across
i disagree however that losing one's virginity is a result of feminism - premarital sex has become acceptable, if not even glamorized, in our culture. It's everywhere in movies, books, music, etc. We even teach birth control to kids in school - which doesn't teach them "wait until you're married" - but "it's okay to not wait until you're married - JUST BE SAFE!" I think set of beliefs equally affects men and women, and combined with youthful hormones, results in ppl having sex long before getting married

Looking for a slave eh Harry?
Traditional?
What exactly are you going to offer your traditional wife? You're going to take care of her financially, maybe discipline her when she's out of line? Are you looking for property, because it seems that's what your opinion of women is. Women are as human and want the same in a partner (you DO know the meaning of the word partner don't you Harry?)
That, my friend is precisely why women want to earn their own way. If all you have to offer a woman is that you'll "take care of her", you're going to be one lonely guy.
Perhaps you should go back to the mother country and try there.

Seems to me u qualify a "traditional wife" as someone who passes the interview for a JOB. Her job is this, her job is that....come on!
Furthermore, I do not wish to generalise but there are men who are not able to financially support their women. So what do these women do?? They need to be up on their feet and be independant to bring the dough or the additional dough for the family too. So are we to be penalised for being independant??
And you said, her job is to take care of him emotionally and feed his ego, what about ours?? Dont you think we need those too??
Traditional wives have since, long gone and if you still yearn for one like that, you need to dig out the graves, man. They had been buried.... yes... buried deep deep down, long long time ago.
Well, like they say, there are only 2 things in life that is constant... death and change. In this instance, you gotta adapt to changes.. : )

you have things slightly mixed up but yes,,sex and the city has a lot to answer for,,a man has nose hair,,dump him,,he likes wearing sandals,,dump him,,,he wants me to cook a meal,,how bloody dare he,im a working woman,,dump him,,,,most women have the middle ground sussed and many just think they do because they are single and can do what they like, date whomever they wish and eat out wherever they want,,a 'man' does indeed have to take care of a woman but i fear not in the way you imagine,,she isnt the timid mouse with little or no opinion who cooks and cleans all day,,,she can hold a job, kids and a husband all at once but still want a man,,it is in the attitude, not the right,,,to get the spouse you desire.

I cannot believe that god placed me on this earth to feed the ego of an egotistical male. I would love to be a 'traditional' stay at home wife, but so many men have dropped the baton and a lot of women had to find ways of making it on their own. I for one fell in love with a man, gave birth to three children for him, got out of shape, gained weight, and he decided that I wasn't the one for him and married someone who was 10 years his Sr.. I couldn't afford to stay home. now two of our children are grown and one is in high school, he's only been paying support for the last 7 years. I had to raise them, feed them, house them, and love them, now what can he tell me? I am an independent woman and if any man can't deal with that, then shame on him. Men have made women come outside of the home and seek lives for themselves, now that we have burned our aprons, they can't handle it. Sorry! I basically only need a man to get the cob webs out every now and then. I can take financial responsibility for myself with the help of God.

Who are you to think you have the only correct answer to what a wife is supposed to be like? What planet do you come from?? There is nothing wrong in seeing things differently, but don't claim to have the truth! It is not the wife´s job to feed her husband´s ego, you moron!! It is a mutual responsibility to fulfill each others needs and that does not require the wife to be a stay at home wife!

I think you said that you live in the US right? But you did not say which Planet? If you are referring to the US on Earth... you are not being realistic at all! I think in a perfect world (both) the Man and Woman should be Virgins until married. However, as you know we (do not) live in a perfect world. As for your financial comment.... my Husband (requires) that I contribute financially to our marriage.

If I had an incredible severe paying activity, she will stay at domicile and be classic spouse. yet i do no longer, so woman, get available and bring domicile the bread! ideally she'll earn greater advantageous than me so i will stay at domicile and be a kin husband. yet no you could nonetheless have sufficient money in easy terms a million working now, it would not make monetary experience, you could keep and plan for the destiny plenty greater effective with 2 earning.

Harry, wow. Where have you been living in this United States? The traditional wife in the US is now a working person.
And, well, Harry, are YOU a virgin? Are you saving yourself for that special woman who will be your personal slave?
Good luck and thanks for the points.

My dear Harry,
You have not lived in the US long, have you? Traditional women have careers. The days of "Leave it to Beaver" are long gone. While nice in theory, 2 incomes are needed in this day and age.
BTW, a good man is great! (I have one of the best in the world), but my career is also very important to me. I would NEVER give up my career to stay home.
