Try a flippy high ponytail. I was there when they had carhop girls and that's what they wore.

Most girls in that time, wore their hair in a ponytail high on their head wrapped with a scarf or ribbon. Not a lot to do with that one, so if you have bangs be sure to curl them under.
Be sure that if you are going as a car hop you have a stick of gum in your mouth. Not a huge piece just enough to chomp on!
