Look at your keyboard.
You will see that I,O,P,J,K,L have small numbers printed on the key as well as the letter.
This is because it can be your numeric keypad if you turn on 'Number Lock'.
Turn off number lock and all should be OK.

To change an account password:
1) While logged onto the computer to an account that has administrative rights, click on Start>Run>and type in CMD.
2) Type in net user then the name of the account then * and press enter. heres an example: net user administrator * or net user "Joe Smith" * . Put the name in quotes if it contains spaces.
3) From there it should ask for a new password.

sounds like the keypad function is enabled. (turns a number of the alpha keys into numbers) in basic terms want to locate the most important blend that turns it decrease go into reverse. in a lot of situations that is FN + another key and is indicated by technique of a label on the keyboard somehwere.

Turn OFF numlock!!!

DOH!!!!

Here's the test CDrom many repair shops use to do the quick test, and the full system function tests. (FREE but, don't tell anyone this) Boot it and see if it works. http://pclinuxos.com
