Hi people. I fell asleep on the couch with one ankle up on the arm of the sofa, bending my right knee slightly backwards. I think I slept about three hours this way. Ever since, for about three weeks, my knee has been very sore and prone to collapsing.

I had knee probs as a kid, and am using a tensor bandage like the dr told me to back then - UNDER the knee, not over the kneecap, but it's still really sore. Any advice? I live in an area where a visit to the Dr entails a two hour drive plus about three hours waiting time, so I'd rather avoid that if I can. Thanks!

For it to heal quickly, you need to do RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation)...and anti inflammatories (Ibuprofen or Acetamephadine (Tylenol)).

It's tough if you're working, but do the best you can to stay off it, keep it up, use a compression bandage, and ice it down several times a day for about 15-20 minutes at a time.

Good luck!!

If you are in such a remote site, then going to see an orthopedic technologist will be just as far if not farther. What you need is a properly fitted knee brace that limits hyperextension with a hinge with stops on the outside of it (plastic or metal composition).

Hyperextension isn't some thing that happens like an injury, i.e you won't be able to stroll into the wellbeing care provider's and say "I hyperextended my knee" i will hyperextend my knees (meaning previous the perspective that they many times quantity to) as i'm double jointed. you need to have pulled/torn some thing, you need to bypass to a physio or a physician to get it appeared at, somewhat seeing because it relatively is been over a week.

You probably stretched your posterior knee ligaments. The two hour trip to your doctor is worth it. See him now. Don't rely on Salonpas.

use "Salonpas"
its a medicated cloth sheet with some kind of slightly heated substance that can lessen knee or gastrocnemius pains at night.Just patch it on where it hurts, and you will see the effect..
