"Some" of the functions can be as follows.
1) Vision- The ability to see
2) Leadership- The ability to get people to follow you
3) Tactics- Devise plans as to how you will accomplish the goal.
4) Management- Manage all the activities that are involved in achieving the plan.
5) Follow up- Making sure the plan is followed and is executed in the most effective manner possible.

Management is the process of planning, organising, staffing, leading and controlling of company's resources towards the achievement of organisational goals. Hence, a manager performs the task of planning, organising, staffing, leading and controlling.
1.Planning: Managers formulate strategies and approaches the company should undertake so that companies will be able to attain its established targets and goals.
2 Organising: Managers also organise activities. He/she makes sure that everything is in order. Moreover, it is a manager's task to keep every undertakings of the company to be in harmony with its objectives.
,3 Staffing: Staffing is concern with the proper allocation of manpower or labour in a company making sure that employees get to work in a job they are most fit to do.
4 Leading: Apparently, as a manager you lead a group of people. You are responsible for them and the company as a whole. Leading requires managers to possess leadership skills which could either be intrinsic or developed through times.
5 Controlling: In controlling, a manager monitors the implementation of plans, strategies etc. He/she makes sure that things are done accordingly and appropriately. In controlling, the manager could either impose correcting mechanism in case of mishaps immediately etc.
As a summary, Managers' main task is to see the overall operation of a certain business.
