Plenty of adult sites will give you free spyware, but thats not what you want is it?

Anti-spyware is what you want. For this, there is Spybot S&D which can be downloaded at: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

On top of this, you will probably want a free adware scanner/remover. A good one can be downloaded here:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Both these programs will only scan your computer when you tell them to though, so you may want something that will protect you all of the time like Windows Defender which can be downloaded for free of www.microsoft.com if you have a legal copy of Windows XP

The BEST free antispyware is Ad-Aware SE Personal (make sure you get the spelling right - there is a 'bad' one with a close name) and can be downloaded from Lavasoft. It's brilliant - kills spyware and viruses and has never let me down. http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Good luck!

download yahoo tool bar. It stops pop ups. Also download add muncher for the adds. Some say its just a trial program and they uninstall it after trial runs out and install it again (so save it somewhere handy)

As for the spyware download windows defender (its free and very good)
