Actually, la tortura is a wonderful song but at the starting, she will cry.for what she cries?(whether the onion she is cutting makes her cries or it is own her sorrow?)
And the man who sees her from the opposite side knows her well before itself or he just imagine those happenings of being with her?(and who is he in real?)
And finally what is the song is coming to say?what does it reveals?is it a french song?

ok here's the deal. in the song, alejandro and shakira used to go out for a while, and then he left her. she was distraught... it was a "torture" to lose him. now he's thinking about her all the time and wants her back, but she won't take him back cause she's moved on.
in the video, alejandro is at his new girlfriend's apartment, which just happens to be across the street from shakira's apartment. so he sees her through the window and starts getting flashbacks of the things they used to do together, hence the kitchen scene with the tomatoes and the table scene with the chinese food. the shakira painted in black is her "alter-ego" as the real shakira calls it... kinda like her darker side.
on the new version of Oral Fixation Vol. 2 (the one with Hips Don't Lie) there is an alternate version of La Tortura, where Shakira sings the chorus in English, but the rest of the song remains the same.

It's about a man loving a woman, but not being with her all the time. About caring but at the same time cheating. And that it is "torture" to lose someone you've given so much.

I love that song.I am not sure of what it actually means, but this is my own interpretation.Its these 2 ppl who live across each other.They are flirting with each other.(Thats where all those scenes come in-they are imagining it,their desire for each other). They know that in reality nothing can happen between them, he has a girlfriend, but they sense something between them, its a kind of an incomplete romance.In the end, his girlfriend wakes up and he goes back to reality.

I love Shakira, and I love that song! Here are the lyrics, it is a Spanish song and I also provided an English translation. The video doesn't really represent the song word-for-word, it's just about her pain over losing the guy. When it shows them together, it is showing their past relationship, but in the video they are no longer together. Hopefully if you read and understand the lyrics, you can understand the video :-) Enjoy!
