Forget tampons, if you have heavy periods then switch to menstrual cups, they can be left in for up to 12 hours without any leaking and without any risk – they are safer, greener, cheaper, convenient and hygienic – unlike tampons.

I used to use super plus Lillets tampons and night time Always pads and still had to change every 1 hour, where as with my Mooncup I only need to empty every 6 hours, one hell of a difference! Plus now I don't get constant infections like I did with tampons, I don't have to worry about all the health risks, I can wear my cup at night as well as before my period is even due, don't have to carry spares or spend a fortune on sanitary products or worrying about environmental impact or where to put the used tampons if there is no bin around.

I've used Tampax and OB, and even without the applicator I think the Tampax are longer, which even though the absorbancies may be the same (like super plus if you need it), would probably give you better protection. I had some leakage with the OB style, and never did with Tamax. If I were worried I'd probably wear a pad too.

Pads are so great now, not like when I was first getting my period (28 years ago) they were all like diapers, and my mother told me we were lucky they had adhesive because that had only come out a few years earlier and she had to wear a belt. Ugh!

Gosh... the biggest, thickest, like its always written on the packets.

Times like this, pads are best, but. Try the anatomical, shaped, ones with wings
