That is a great flight of imagination !! Interesting thought - so often we wish we could be alone.

As it is, a large part of each of us is an island, carefully closed to any intrusion. Yet, there is more than enough of our exterior still interacting with others, so much so that most of us have little time left for ourselves.

If we do the islanding completely, well, for one thing there would be no world - after all our world is not just land, water, air, trees, mountains etc. Our real world is the interactions and interrelationships we have with others.

More importantly, left all by oneself, one would become a vegetable! It is not for nothing that we compromised our self to be a social being!!

There would probably have been LESS questions with HIDDEN meanings on Y!A??? ... Men sometimes live on their own islands, not because they do not get the message or to stimulate women into flights of fancy, rather to minimize the chances of unnecessary conflicts and misunderstandings.

We are islands! Just consider this:
A lot of us have someone stuck on us
We are always waiting for our ship to come in
We are strangers to our nearest neighbors
We never learn from the world around us
Most of us just float along without any goals
In an era of Internet, e-mail, Cellular technology, GPS,Optic fibres, and sattellites, never have we been so disconnected to each other

"No man is an island, entire of itself....
therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls
it tolls for thee." -- John Donne

The pealing of the bells would be deafening.

if all men were islands... there would be a dominance of girls. girls woul rule the earth but as soon as they'd die, no one would pass on children because you need men to reproduce.

so, pretty much all the girls would (need to) be screwed! (pun intended.)
