Basically because the history of life is a branching bush. Not a straight line with every single species on earth existing on that line. Populations of the same species often get separated and evolve in to separate species (this isn't just theory based on indirect evidence, as strong as that evidence is - it has been observed in progress right thru to speciation). So dinosaurs and mammals had a common ancestor, back before the dinosaurs appeared.

Ok this one you need to believe in something for yourself on this one. Whether you take to be true some hyposthesis, or a conjecture or theory or fact or fantasy. You still can think how you want on this one. I don't know beyond the shadow of a doubt that Man or "we" evolved from smaller forms. Man didn't have to Evolve. He was made in the image of our supreme Creator, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father. Dinosaurs are perhaps from a time Before man cultivated the land of the Earth. Its possible. It is also possible that Dinosaurs are simply birds. Now that is what I believe. They are relative to lizards. Just look at a new born bird that has fallen from its nest when it has no feathers yet just a birdling and they look just like ....There are a lot of beliefs out there. I will give you my thoughts concerning the matter, me having gone around the Sun 35 times and this is from either book learning, my faith, or my experiences, and every bit of information that I have been exposed to about this issue. Namely when I first heard of the Dinosaurs I learned that the name meant Terrible Lizard Mrs. Hirata in 2nd Grade told me that. Also I went to the La Brea Tar Pits where many fossils and remains of what civilized man have dubbed as "Dinosaurs which everyone knows of course means Terrible Lizard. Since the time that Adam or whatever name you want to use to distinguish the very first man to live on Earth was given license to name all the beasts and creatures that inhabited the Earth. Even the great whales of the sea. Yeah it just depends. The truth you can know with a surety some ways you must seek them out. The truth of a matter can be had if it is earnestly sought after. Thank you and my guru is done. mua

WHAT?
Dinosaurs evolved before man did and, being cold blooded, died out after a meteor struck earth resulting in a world wide ice age.
The animals mankind evolved from survived this as they were better adapted to the cold because of being mammals.

We didn't evolve from anything. The evolution fable falls at the very first hurdle, the spontaneous generation of first life. There is no possible naturalistic explanation for the origin of life that does not contravene natural law.
Anyone who respects natural law cannot possibly believe in the primordial soup myth, or any similar, spontaneous generation of life story.
Modern, Information Theory rules out the naturalistic origin of information in the primordial soup, but information is essential for the origin of life: - - - -
Information is nonmaterial, but it requires material media for storage and transmission.
Information is not life, but the information in cells is essential for all living things. Information is a necessary prerequisite for life.
Life is nonmaterial, and it is not information, but both entities, matter and information, are essential for life.
INFORMATION THEORY:
THEOREM 27: Any model for the origin of life (and of information) based solely on physical and/or chemical processes, is inherently false.
THEOREM 28: There is no known law of nature, no known process and no known sequence of events which can cause information to arise by itself in matter.
7th International Conference on the Origins of Life. - - - - - -
Klaus Dose reviewing the conclusions of the 7th international conference on the origins of life (Mainz 10th - 15th July 1983) in association with the 4th congress of the ISSOL, writes: “A further puzzle remains, namely the question of the origin of biological information, i.e. the information residing in our genes today.” “The spontaneous formation of simple nucleotides of even of poly-nucleotides which were able to be replicated on the pre-biotic earth, should now be regarded as improbable in the light of the very many unsuccessful experiments in this regard.
Sir Fred Hoyle: - - - - -
The famous cosmologist Sir Fred Hoyle. “I don’t know how long it is going to be before astronomers generally recognise that the combinatorial arrangement of not even one among the many thousands of biopolymers on which life depends could not have been arrived at by natural processes here on the Earth. Astronomers will have a little difficulty at understanding this because they will be assured by biologists that it is not so. The others are a group of persons who believe, quite openly, in mathematical miracles. They advocate the belief that tucked away in nature, outside of normal physics, there is a law which performs miracles.” New Scientist 19th Nov 1981. P526.
Nuclear physicist Hermann Schneider on the ‘Big Bang’: “In the evolution model the natural laws have to describe the origin of all things in the macro and micro cosmos, as well as their operation. But this overtaxes the laws of nature.” Zeitschrift factum 1981, Nr.3, pp.26-33.
